Running most training sessions is fine tuned athlete and hockey technician Fisher Klein, currently playing for the Francis Howell Central Spartans. A friend and mentor of many youth players in the area, Coach Fish has been helping players improve all aspects of their game for 4 years.
Every student will receive a complete skill assessment and evaluation from StL Sting Head Coach, Tyler Gibbs. This will include reviewing both game and training footage so proper and personalized instruction can be prescribed.
All time scoring leader and NCAA National Champion for Michigan Tech, Mike Zuke still resides in the area after his pro career with the Blues, and has advised our instructors since the Lab's inception. He has been integral in the development of our facility providing guidance, customizing drills and isolating skills that we use in every session.
Founder of the Old Time Hockey Lab, Coach Klein has been active in youth hockey organizations since 2011, including Twin Bridges, St Peters Spirit, and StL Rockets. Specializing in younger players, David is a stickler for fundamental skills and form.
We located within a private neighborhood in Cottleville, MO. Once we decide we are ready to move forward with bookings we will be happy to share our address.
Each player is offered a personalized training program based on an athletic and skill evaluation by our staff. No two players are exactly alike, and we all have different learning styles. Wherever a player is at, we will meet them there and help forge a path to improvement.
In the beginning, yes they mostly were! As things have grown and evolved we have also had the pleasure of working with players from Chesterfield, Twin Bridges, St. Louis Sting, Lady Cyclones, AAA Jr. Blues and Carshield.
For most students a normal one hour session consists of 15-20 minutes of off ice work in our gym and "Stride Zone" areas, followed by 35-45 minutes on skates in the mini rink.
We would like players to bring the whole bag (no tape on bottom of stick blade, please) and plan on wearing everything!
“Colin loves working with Coaches Fisher and Dave! He had some struggles with his shot this season, but after 2 lessons they were able to help correct his mechanics and had him ripping pucks with confidence! They break down instruction to make it easy for kids to understand and apply to their game. Best of all, they make it fun and have Colin looking forward to his next lesson as soon as he steps out of the Lab. Highly recommend!”
"We absolutely love the training our son receives at Old Time Hockey Lab! He tells us with great enthusiasm what he has been working on with Coach Fisher and likes to demonstrate at home for us. He looks forward to the homework he is given between each lesson and it is very hard to get him out of the garage as he practices his new skills!"
"Old Time Hockey Lab has been extremely helpful with our son. He has a different learning style than most kids and they are very skilled at accommodating those needs. For two years we have come to their facility, both during and after hockey season. The patience, attention to detail, and their knack for making the work seem fun is why we have continued to entrust Dave and Fisher with our son's hockey development."
